Poplar Creek Preserve contains looped unpaved horse trails in the western portion of the preserve. The Poplar Creek Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates is a special site, with rich remnant woodlands and a rare gravel hill prairie along Shoe Factory Road. Over 100 prairie species have been identified at this site. Grassland bird species are abundant including the bobolink, grasshopper sparrow, and Henslow’s sparrow.
Year-round, conditions permitting.
All horses must wear a horse tag affixed to the left-hand side of the bridle or the saddle and be clearly visible when on Forest Preserves trails. Day pass $5.
Designated horse trailer parking
Annual pass $35 for Cook County residents and $50 for non-residents.
